.

how do parents stand it? those who work while their children are at home? those who stay home with their kids and try to get them to pay attention to their zoom schooling?

these are days when democracy is our enemy. i mean the need to assert our independence should not take precedence over our need to conquer this virus. But the religious parties are warring against the blue-white party - "we won't shut down our synagogues as long as you keep demonstrations going." "our right to demonstrate is a basic right of democracy." I'd rather follow the chinese model than the american right now, where the government has total knowledge of your movements, and moves in right away if there is a danger. i have this good friend who continues to run around the country and uses ways to spot the police and avoid them. it is fun for her but scary for the country.

i was working on my website yesterday - i alternate my uncompleted tasks with the news. but nothing comes from either of them. We know Donald will never leave, that Bibi will keep avoiding the trial, that as determined as our 'projector' is to conquer the virus, he doesn't have the manpower or the power to beat down a government divided against itself.

On Tuesday, the 7 th of October, there will be a reading in the virtual sukkah of Michael Kagan. We're inviting the first twelve people who sign up to read after our featured readers William Freeman and Noel Canin. sign up here to read or just attend.>

In the meantime you can sign on to 100 thousand poets for change.

You're wondering why i haven't mentioned the political uproar over the shutdown decision. I was proud of Benny Gantz, who is submitting to this lockdown - despite his terrible distaste for Bibi - for the good of the country. As opposed to Yair Lapid who used the opportunity to lambast the government. he was right of course, but it is absolutely necessary to pull together now

The video that most illustrates the mood of the people in this country on this night of the closure:here,

We're are on the last Friday night of "selichot" the night before the last shabbat before yom kippur. and we're supposed to be asking forgiveness from one another. so many people are angry with Bibi for closing the whole country down because he can't get the parties to agree on how to work a partial closure.

Me, I have no reason to complain. friends talk, movies online. zoom exercise. i'm not in the Holocaust (it seems to be an obsession of mine ). i have to figure out a way to communicate better with my grandchildren, and i would like to be kissing and hugging people a lot more.

so we arranged a dress-up party with one family on zoom, where everyone wore their best clothes and far too much makeup. Next week Purim.

there are 23.6 thousand people on darkenu's facebook virtual site. For the past hour one after another the speakers are begging for an end to this government. To Karen Alkalay-Gut Diary
