Family family family - old secrets exposed, new secrets being made... My family seems to think that whatever family does, it remains family, so we somehow stay somewhat together. I like that. I would have liked to bring the entire family together but finances limit intimacy.

Nevertheless there is also a limit to intimacy - and i am chomping at the bit to have a few days of civilization. Something other than shopping for which i don't seem to be in the proper mood.

The wedding over, I am overwhelmed by how beautifully my nieces and their various husbands work together to create a unity, despite their extremely different backgrounds and cultures. Every effort is made to incorporate every one. Every kind of music came together, from rap to electric line dancing to the hora and even the Even the Mazinke Dance which is the dance of the parents at getting rid of the youngest daughter. (i think it's a new-tradition that comes from comedies but so what.)

At least some of the new traditions are good for us. Like this one: earthquake proof school desks.
