the evil eye followed me all the way from Boston to New York and now I seem to have a fever as well as a red, drippy nose and a cough. this must go away before tomorrow.

It seems the news here is already celebrating Trump's demise. I keep thinking about the Rebbes who told their guys to vote Trump and wonder what they are thinking now. is it antisemitism?

My cousin, Susan Levin, sent me this link to her parents' testimony in Yiddish. It is gut wrenching.

I've never done it before. I have never walked out of a play. But I was so insulted by "Indecent" that I just couldn't sit there any longer. I had been so anxious to see the play. After all it's about Shalom Asch and the lesbian drama that got shut down on Broadway in the 20's. But it was so stylized - so fake - I could not take it. The Jewish accents, the hassidic dancing, the gestures, the dialogue, like analogues of analogues. It was clear no one had any knowledge of the real thing. Of Asch's hunger to uncover the truth behind the pretensions of religion.
