grabbed a pizza at Robina before the all Beethoven concert tonight. i wonder what the serious dramative actress Hanna Robina would have thought of a bar named after her.

Egypt was the focus of our trip to Jerusalem. It was what we talked about in the Foreign Office when we met with some former ambassadors, it was part of the visit to the museum and it was what I talked about at lunch with Khaled. Hard to believe I've never been there. it is so close and so important. Hard to believe we could drive there overnight.

If they'd let us in.

20 more fires today. the whole south west is black. i can't imagine how we haven't found a way to stop the kites that have destroyed our agriculture in a vast area. Ezi says the hamsin on wednesday will reverse the winds bringing the kites to our fields and towns and kindergarten.

then maybe we should send them back

There were other exhibits in the museum that caught our attention - the deceptively simple history of the fashion industry in Israel. What started out as a search for native identity, a rebellion against the bourgouis commercialism of Europe and an attempt to adept to the climate with simple and local wares, became a complex haute coutour industry, one that challenged Europe itself. This stardom was shortlived - a new government dropped subsidies and encouraged international trade to the point where the industries collapsed by the eighties. I miss the fun but try to support whatever fashion houses that survive. As much as possible.

As often as possible

all right I collapsed. After gym class, after an hour at the bank, after the osteopath, after the eye doctor, after a long day and another UTI I collapsed. I didn't see the prince today, I didn't drink beer on the beach (one of my favorite activities), I just did maintenance. The bank gave me a book of forms to fill out for IAWE and the explanations were clear at the moment but have been forgotten already. Could that be what gave me the UTI?

:ast year in Barcelona when I went through Security I beeped. I'd explained that I had two hip operations before the metal detector but as soon as I went through I was met with a woman officer with an M16 pointed at me. I remembered that moment yesterday when I beeped again. but this time it was an israeli security guy. "What is that?" he asked. "Hip operation." "how do i know that?" "want to see my scars?" "NO!" the laughter filled the whole room.

We've been trying to save water. I always say I learned this from my late ex-mother-in-law who would turn the shower off while soaping and soaped all the dishes in the sink with the water off and before turning it on to rinse. We wash our car with a pail of water, and try to water our plants with bath water. But if we all could capture rainwater on our roofs in the winter, and trap dew with the rocks around our plants we'd be in much better shape. Keren Kayemet is trying to fund storage for water here

Tonight was white night in Tel Aviv - lots of celebrations all over all night - but since Ezi doesn't like crowds we went to a lecture by Dr. Galilee on 4p health. predictive preventative personalized and proactive. unfortunatly the only way this can work is to make it part of the system. and we haven't heard from Ezi's doctor since he got the results of the PET last week. so it's no P for us.
