"The people demand transportation justice"

there is always a demonstration near Habima. This one is about busses on Saturday. There is no public transportation from Friday afternoon to Saturday evening, which effectively stops people from travelling. This is a problem for the non-religious, and reveals the sense of the religious-political problem here, but with so many more devastating problems around here, it is not surprising that the demonstration was rather small.

Savannah and the Strings hosted Roy Yarkoni and Or Naveh last night as special guests. It was a wonderful night. Savannah has a great voice and her musicians are great and in tune with her. I'm really happy we are working together on a new project - a kind of folk opera about clothes. Here is "una selva"

I think it's a great project and will go far. Don't you?

Don't tell anyone what I ate for dinner tonight. it was so awful but so incredibly good. You know that Iraqi pita - the big one that gets rubbery after a few hours? Suddenly I forgot what it's called. Anyway I bought them in the morning when they were soft and fresh but we had a wonderful meal out for lunch so in the evening we hid out at home and just raided the fridge. Peanut butter and plum jelly and iraqi pita are perfect together. For me, this is a wonderful Friday night.

For most of our neighbors, Friday nights is for families. For us it is Saturday lunch. Sometimes people come over, but mostly it is an evening of blessed rest.

It's been a tough couple of days. On the one hand we don't know - and won't know for a while - what kind of government we're going to have. The choices aren't great but there's a chance the religious stranglehold will be broken at least, and who knows, maybe a few baby steps toward peace. On the other hand it's hard to sit on your hands. Should I be stocking up on food because the prices are going up and may sky-rocket soon? Do we absolutely need to upgrae our house against the new weapons we'll be getting from Iran? Did I do right to vote Labor?
