Ezi's PET came out clean! The cancer is not back. Now I can go back to unpacking from Viet Nam

Our former prime minister Ehud Olmert is still going to jail. Only a year and a half, but the results of his crimes will be before us for a lifetime. Had he remained in office our relationship with our neighbors would have been very different and I regret that terribly. But every visit to Jerusalem reminds me of the results of bribery - The horrendous Holyland Project a blot on the landscape. The former mayor of Jerusalem Uri Lupolianski was given only six months of public service because of his advanced cancer, but the television coverage of his 'victory' celebration show him dancing around in very good health, a sign that corruption and bribery is still in existence in this country. I'm sure that Olmert in this case was much more honest than Lupolianski.

So I'm left with this - Olmert, on his way to jail, is much more attractive to me than what we have.

Sara Netanyahu is being question about some of the expenses of the Prime Minister's home. I imagine the stress she is under, and her total inability to cope with such a demanding role. I also imagine what a suitable woman would have done in her position, how much she could have done to make salient the issue of hungry children in this country, or the lack of proper equipment in some schools, or the problems of playgrounds in certain areas. it would have been so feminine and appropriate...

Is it only me who is in denial? In the north people appear to be living normal lives even though al keyda is next door waiting.

"happy new year," my friend called me from the north where they're celebrating. who noticed, i asked. the Russians, she said.

I wasn't there. The terrorist shooting attack, killing at least 2 at the bar at Gordon and Dizengoff - near where Orit lives, near where so many of my friends live - near oh my goodness...

my estimate from his body language is that he's a pro - from europe - a city boy.I wish I knew where he was.

So I'm wrong. Now it appears he's local, an Arab-Israeli citizen. that machine gun, that calm, that poise apparently misled me.

January 2, 2015

the terrorist is still at large and my neighborhood was searched yesterday. today - a very stormy morning, but at noon the rain stopped and we went to the beach. There were a lot of hungry cats but very few people.

and as you can see, it was glorious. I don't know what will happen with this guy running around with a Karl-Gustoff (the gun the fedayeen used in the fifties). But I not only mourn the two young men murdered in cold blood on the streets, but I worry about the people who wander around lost in this world, whose only connection with others is through the computer. It is little wonder people find a home with Isis.
