Tel -Aviv Diary - April 15=19, 2016 - Karen Alkalay-Gut

No justification for writing a Tel Aviv Diary when I can barely get info about Israel. How weird to get to that moment every time on a trip when I just want to go home. I just want to see the people, the streets, the heat. I don't feel i have a right to saw anything about Israel if i am not there.

Happy Holidays to all!

We spent the afternoon cooking and looking up Jezebel. I mean if we're preparing a cup for Elijah we should know why he is so thirsty. More of this in my poems soon.

Holidays in the US are so much more complex than in Israel, perhaps because we're always in a strange place. When we discovered we were making a brisket we went out to look for a kosher market. Og course it was full of Israelis who were selling Israeli products to American Jews. The meat was probably five times what it would cost in a supermarket but about the same price as it would be in Israel. Very exhausting and expensive to shop here.
